Guitars:
4. How do I tune my guitar?
There are many methods. One is to use a pitch pipe, and by plucking the corresponding string, tune the guitar by ear. This is not the easiest method, but it is definitely a great way to learn. The other method would be to use an electronic tuner. This method is preferred by guitarists as it is usually faster, and more accurate. Your Rocker acoustic guitar comes with a pitch pipe to assist in proper tuning. The directions are included in your owners manual. Most Electric models come with electronic tuners, and again the instructions are included.

5. How do I clean my guitar?
Your guitar has many different materials and you must learn how to clean them individually. The wood surfaces can be cleaned with either a soft cloth, or with a guitar polish and a soft cloth. Guitar polish is readily available from your local music store, and a bottle lasts for years. The strings should not be cleaned with guitar polish, just a wipe down is best. It’s easiest to clean the fingerboard when you change your strings, and if you wish, you can treat the fingerboard with a light rubbing of lemon oil. This preserves the wood and helps it last much longer.

6. How often should I change my guitar strings?
This depends on the type of strings, and mostly how often you play the guitar. Another factor is whether the strings are cleaned after playing as well as the amount of oils that come from your hands when you play. All of these factors can contribute to the length of time your strings will last before they require replacement. If your strings are discolored, if they make a lot of buzzing sounds against the frets, or if the sound has become dull and lacking brightness, you should replace the strings.

7. Why is my guitar always out of tune?
Guitars, whether acoustic or electric, will always need to be tuned. How often and how badly out of tune they become depends on many things, including but not limited to the following:
• Excessive string bending while playing the guitar
• Hard picking or fingering styles
• Constant environmental changes in either temperature or relative humidity
• Leaving the instrument in direct sunlight

8. How do I attach the strap to my guitar?
Acoustic guitar: One end of the strap has a hole, the other end has a tie string. First tie the end of the strap with the string to the guitar neck between the nut and the tuning machines (see figure 1 below). Attach the other end of the strap (with the hole) to the strap button on the end of the guitar body (see figure 2 below).
Figure 1 Figure 2 Electric guitar or bass: Both ends of the strap have a hole. Simply attach each end of the strap to the strap buttons located on the guitar body.

9. How do I tune my drums?
The drum skins will occasionally need to be tuned, just like they did when you first assembled the drum kit. Temperature changes, humidity changes, moving the drum kit, or simply playing them will vary the tuning of each drum. Tuning them is important, so every once in a while you should check their tuning and adjust as necessary. Refer to your owners manual for instruction on how to adjust the tuning.

10. How often should I replace the drum skins (or heads)?
The drum skins will need to be replaced if they are torn, or ripped in any fashion. Excessively hard hits, or over tuning the drum too high are common causes of the drum head being torn or damaged. Also, after a long period of time, the skins will need to be replaced simply due to age. Once they sound dull and have no kickback when you hit them, replacing them is a good idea. Your local music store will have replacements. Just make sure you know the sizes of the drums. To learn the drum sizes, either copy the information on the packaging, or simply measure the diameter of each drum.

11. I have lost my drum key, where can I get another one?
No need to worry. The drum key is a very common item available at any music store and they are not very expensive at all. It’s important to always have one handy as it is the ONLY tool you should ever use to adjust the hardware on your drum set.
